Week 13 Monday Night Trash Pile: Really? This Is It?

What are we doing here? The Browns vs. the Broncos on Monday Night Football in Week 13? Okay, sure. Sometimes, you give too much confidence to the people in charge. It’s like when you’ve had one too many beers, and your cousin Ed jingles his keys and says he can drive home. Next thing you know, the car is two tires deep into a pond, and you’re waist-deep trying to push it out. If something deep down tells you this is a bad idea, you should probably listen. The schedule makers didn’t listen when they put this game on Monday Night Football.

If you can stay awake long enough to watch this game, you’ll see a 3-8 team coming off a major upset over the Steelers last Thursday Night. Meanwhile, Bo Nix is having a moment with the Broncos, and Sean Payton is proving he can still be the guy as long as he has his guy. Myles Garrett will be looking to build a Defensive Player Of the Year case on a big stage while Bo Nix tries to pull the rug out on the Offensive Rookie of the Year race. “All football is good football,” he quietly whispers to himself.

If you like my picks, lock them in with the widgets below!

Cleveland Browns @ Denver Broncos (-6.5), O/U 41.5

This number suggests the Broncos are 4-5 points better than the Browns on a neutral field. I can’t stomach that to be true. Jameis Winston has injected new life into this offense, and the defense is starting to return to last year’s form. The hesitation I have for backing the Browns in any game this season is Winston’s propensity to make mistakes and turn the ball over. If he can keep his excitement levels tempered, he should be able to dink and dunk this offense down the field against an overrated Denver defense.

On the other side of the ball, you have Bo Nix against Myles Garrett. Sean Payton has put Nix into a position to succeed all season, but he hasn’t had to deal with an edge rusher of Garrett’s caliber yet. He will be under pressure all game and will have to endure a few mistakes to come out of this one on top. I think the Browns are live to win this one, but I’ll take nearly a touchdown on the spread.

Pick: Cleveland +6.5

Does Jameis Gave a Guy?

After sending Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills earlier in the season, the Browns have been a balanced passing attack that doesn’t favor one receiver over the others. Jerry Jeudy, Elijah Moore, and Cedric Tillman all have consistent and established roles, and Winston has confidence in all of them.

Instead of trying to predict which one of these weapons will go off against the Broncos, I’m going to predict that Jameis Winston will lean on all of them.

Pick: Jameis Winston Over 22.5 Passing Completions
