College Football Trashy Tailgate Week 10: It Won’t Be a Happy Valley

Your pathetic predictor Brochacho Vargas was only 2-3 last Saturday, but at least he didn’t go 0-5 like he did for two straight weekends. He is BACK! Can he maintain the upward trend? Read on, make your bets … and hope.

No. 4 Ohio State at No. 3 Penn State

Nittany Lions coach James Franklin has only beaten the Buckeyes once, in 2016. He’s also 3-17 against top 10 teams in his Penn State tenure. The OSO defense can be fearsome and should cause problems for hobbled PSU QB Drew Allar.

Take OSU to win on the moneyline but we are a bit hesitant to take the Bucks to beat the spread.

No. 13 Indiana at Michigan State

The gut feeling on this one is that the Hoosier house of cards tumbles a bit. The Hoosiers are having a great season, but this is their first winning season since 2020 and they haven’t trailed once in any game this season. We are thinking the Spartans deliver a couple of gut punches in rowdy Spartan Stadium that helps deliver IU’s first defeat.

Take MSU to win outright and win the moneyline and spread.

No. 19 Ole Miss at Arkansas

The Razorbacks have mostly done well against ranked teams, and their run defense has been strong, which could put pressure on a Rebel offense that hasn’t exactly been lighting up the scoreboard in recent games. The Arkansas D is 38th in EPA/Play on early downs, and 36th in average third and fourth down success rate.

Take Arkansas to score an upset victory in Fayetteville.

No. 1 Oregon at Michigan

The Ducks obviously are obviously rocking — they’re ranked 11th in offense at 467.1 yards per game. But they’ve played away from the West Coast only once, a 35-0 win at Purdue. The Wolverines are basically mediocre this season, but they have lost only once at home and should be able to make a game of it.

Take the Wolverines to cover the spread in defeat.

San Diego State at No. 15 Boise State

The Bulldogs are only 5-4 against the Aztecs since 2011, and have never beaten SDSU by more than 22 points. Plus, neither team has won three in a row in this series dating back to 2011. BSU has won two straight, which means they lose Saturday, right?

Well, we won’t go that far, but take the ‘Tecs to cover the spread on the road at least.
