Week 9 Monday Night Trash Pile: Not Another Chiefs Game

Here we are again. It’s the Chiefs in a primetime game against a decent team struggling with injuries that the whole world will be rooting on to end their perfect season. People watch the Chiefs and say stuff like “They’re not even playing their best ball right now,” or “Patrick Mahomes is not playing like an MVP quarterback,” and blah blah freaking blah. They’re resisting the fact that the Chiefs own the National Football League, and we are all imprisoned to watch Mahomes have the greatest life in the world. Do I sound bitter? That’s because I’m bitter.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Kansas City Chiefs (-9), O/U 45.5

Baker needs help. With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, he’ll need to rely on the run game and his remaining weapons to move the ball down the field. The strength of this team all season has been the offense with Baker’s gun-slinging mentality. Todd Bowles, a defensive Head Coach, needs to step up on the other side of the ball. He’ll blitz Mahomes like crazy, and Vita Vea should sit in the middle and keep the run game in check, but the Chiefs play a style that allows them to bleed the clock and limit the other team’s time of possession.

The Bucs are in a unique situation, where they play an up-tempo offense and should be able to get a few more plays than the average team. If they come out and punch Kansas City in the mouth early, they could be in a position to fall within the number.

Pick: Tampa Bay +9

Who’s Catching Baker’s Balls?

The Bucs banged up wide receiver core has provided great opportunity for TE Cade Otton. He’s Baker’s favorite target if he’s not able to throw to one of his All-Pro wide receivers. He’s like Baker’s fallback option for prom. The two women of his dreams got scooped up by some guy with gelled hair and a leather jacket. So his long-time childhood friend, who has been consoling him, says “Why don’t we just go together?” At first, he laughs at the idea and embarrasses her. But then they have a long talk about how much their friendship means to each other, and they agree to go. When he sees her in her dress for the first time, he realizes how beautiful she really is, and they share a kiss. It was her all along. Despite Baker being a little shallow, he finally sees the beauty in her, and they fall in love. That’s kind of what Cade Otton means to this offense.

Pick: Cade Otton Over 50.5 Receiving Yards
