Week 6 Sunday Night Trash Pile: They’re Always Open

The Cincinnati Bengals started their season with a big wet fart. After eliminating half the country in their survivor pools in week one by losing to the Patriots, they stacked up three more L’s in their next four games. The only team they’ve beaten is the Carolina Panthers. They need to play perfect football with a terrible defense for the rest of the season to make the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Giants had hints of ass to start the season, but are coming off a gutsy win over the Seattle Seahawks in a game where they were missing their electric rookie WR Malik Nabers. They likely won’t have Nabers again for this game, and maybe not RB Devin Singletary either. It might not be one of those “waiting all day for Sunday Night” games.

Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5) @ New York Giants, O/U 46.5

You show me someone confident in a side or total in this game and I’ll show you a liar. The injuries all over the Giants’ offense make it hard to believe they’ll score points in this game. However, my high school JV team might be able to score on this Cincinnati defense. So, instead of rolling the dice in those markets, let’s look at how these injuries could provide opportunities.

Bengals stud (and kind of a diva) wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase nearly willed the offense to victory against the Baltimore Ravens last week. If this game gets stinky early, which happens in most Bengals games, Burrow will look to Chase to get them back in it. Even if they’re dominating from the start, the Giants don’t have someone that can cover him. He’s open right now. He’ll be open all game. And he’ll be open while he’s brushing his teeth before bed. He’s always open.

Pick: Ja’Marr Chase Over 75.5 Receiving Yards

As some handsome genius mentioned before Malik Nabers will miss his second straight game for the Giants. QB Daniel Jones has a propensity to hyper-target his top weapons in the offense. Nabers has games already with 12, 8, and 10 catches. Without him in the lineup, Jones will have to rely heavily on Wan’Dale Robinson, who already has 6+ catches in four of their five games this season.

There will be a steady stream of passes going Robinson’s way in this one. He likes to hang around the line of scrimmage so these ample targets turn into easy catches. Every time you come back from the bathroom or grab a slice of pizza, you’ll glance at the TV and see Wan’Dale catching another pass.

Pick: Wan’Dale Robinson Over 5.5 Receptions
