The dating scene is tough, or so I’ve heard (I’m married). But for the sake of this metaphor pretend I’m not. You go on all of these dates and these people show signs that they could be the one. They grab the check before you can. They show up at your place with a freshly baked pie or something. They drive you to the airport. I don’t know, do dating people do that? Where am I going with this…

Oh! Maybe the Saints are the one! We’ve been looking for a team to hang a loss on this “underwhelming and injured” back-to-back Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Falcons had them on the ropes, nope! The Bengals had the game in the bag, flag on the play! The Ravens score in the final seconds to tie the game! Isaiah Likely wore the wrong colored shoes. But maybe, juuuuust maybe the Saints won’t turn into a pumpkin at midnight.

New Orleans Saints @ Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5), O/U 43.5

We all know how good the Chiefs are. I’m not going to dwell on it. If you want coverage on the Chiefs just turn on ESPN any time of the day. What I will say about them though, is that Patrick Mahomes will need to put the entire offense on his back now that Isiah Pacheco and Rashee Rice won’t be running out of the tunnel with him. That makes me think they will lack some offensive firepower in this game.

But the Saints could be the one who upset the Chiefs. They came into the season with a good defense and several questions on offense. But new OC Clint Kubiak has Alvin Kamara looking like his vintage self, Chris Olave is regularly involved, and they have a killshot play with Derek Carr’s deep passing to Rashid Shaheed. I don’t feel confident that the Chiefs can win this game by almost a full touchdown. But I keep picking against them and losing. Maybe this time will be different?

What If You ARE Wrong Sam?

Nonsense. But I did tell you emphatically to take the Bills last week against the Ravens. So, I guess if another fluke were to happen in this game, we shouldn’t be surprised. The biggest variable in this game is the Saints offense. If they’re clicking, then the Saints will fall within the number, but they could still fall victim to one of the best defenses in the league. 

But, the Chiefs will still have to deal with a formidable New Orleans defense that didn’t allow the Falcons to score an offensive touchdown last week and held their other three opponents to under 20 points. So if the Saints pick blows up in my face, I think the under will hit either way.
