Week 10 Monday Night Trash Pile: A Hot Rod in Hollywood

As the November air moves in and the world gets a little colder, the football teams that can grit and bear the elements prove they have the advantage. But this game is not about grit. It’s not about the elements. It’s about the looks.

It’s Monday Night Football in Los Angeles, with the Dolphins coming to town. If this game was outside in Chicago, both of these teams would shrivel up and die. Instead, famous actors and corporate suites will gather around to watch two teams dawned in highlighter yellow and Bikini Bottom teal. There better be some points in this one, or else they’re going to look like a Mustang convertible stuck in traffic.

Miami Dolphins @ Los Angeles Rams (-2.5), O/U 48.5

For some reason, people still think the Dolphins can salvage this season. They’re thinking back to last season or even the offseason when they were rated as one of the best offenses in the league, had a formidable defense, and a shot to win the division. They have none of that this year, and people keep walking into the trap they put up every week. For some reason, people will still put Tua Tagovailoa up with the top quarterbacks in the league, but even when he’s in the lineup this season the Dolphins have underwhelmed. They can’t establish the rhythmic offense they’re supposed to have, and he floats out a very interceptable ball.

This game is all about the Rams for me. They look primed to pull away from the rest of the NFC West with a healthy receiving core and a young, competitive defense. Sean McVay is going to coach circles around Mike McDaniel, and the Rams will move closer to the playoffs after stumbling out of the gate.

Pick: Los Angeles -2.5

Guess Who’s Back With a Whole Bunch of Yards

Puka Nacua let a lot of people down last week when he got ejected for throwing a punch. In a divisional matchup with a bunch of nerds’ fantasy season on the line, he decides it’s time to go kickboxing. The good part about him missing most of the game last week is that he’s healthy and well-rested.

The Dolphins’ secondary has struggled all season, and they don’t have a pass rush that will put enough pressure to throw off Matthew Stafford. Whenever Puka has been in the lineup this season, he has proved to be Stafford’s favorite target, and that will be the case in this one.

Pick: Puka Nacua Over 66.5 Receiving Yards
