Big Ten supremacy is at stake, and maybe so is Deion Sanders’ reputation. Your personal prognosticator Brochacho Vargas gives you his picks for this week. Senor Vargas was 2-3 last week, 0-5 the week before and 4-1 the week before that. So, who knows? Maybe El Vargas’ prognostications are pure hot garbage. You decide.
No. 2 Ohio State (5-0) at No. 3 Oregon (5-0)
Intriguing stat: Road teams are 1-8 in matchups between new Big Ten teams from the West Coast and Big Ten incumbent teams — that trend favors the Ducks in this one.
Sorry, that won’t matter. The Buckeyes are 9-1 all-time against Oregon and are averaging 46 points per game. Running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins lead an OSU rushing attack that averages 222 yards per game.
Take the Buckeyes to win outright and cover the spread.
No. 18 Kansas State (4-1) Colorado (4-1)
OK, Brochacho Vargas is giving Neon Deion a second chance after his Buffaloes made us look silly picking them to beat Nebraska a few weeks ago. Shedeur Sanders is completing 70 percent of his passes and has 14 touchdown passes against three interceptions. KSU gave up more than 700 yards passing against Tulane and Oklahoma State.
Take Colorado in to win outright.
No. 4 Penn State (5-0) at USC (3-2)
Big Ten teams traveling two time zones to their new West Coast conference brethren are 1-8 this season. The Trojans are perfect at home this season and are in must-win mode after losing two of the past three games.
Take the Trojans.
No. 11 Iowa State (5-0) at West Virginia (3-2)
Dual threat QB Garrett Greene of the Mountaineers will be one of the toughest challenges the Cyclones will face this season. He has passed for 1,061 yards and run for 295 and has 10 touchdowns.
Take West Virginia to protect the home turf.
No. 9 Ole Miss (5-1) at No. 13 LSU (4-1)
Ole Miss is on several radars as an upset possibility, but we don’t agree. The Rebels already had an upset — losing to Kentucky. They also destroyed South Carolina, while LSU had a nice win on the road but only by a field goal. The Tigers also lost to USC in the opener in their other game against a strong opponent
Go with Ole Miss to take care of business on the road.
