Week 8 Sunday Night Trash Pile: The Dogs Are Barking

Oh baby, it’s a classic NFC Showdown on Sunday Night Football. But this time, it comes without any good players on their football teams. Both of these teams are not having the season they were expecting, with the Cowboys falling behind the Eagles and Commanders in their division race and the 49ers falling behind the Seahawks and Rams in theirs.

These are some old dogs dealing with new pesky puppies in their house. They just wanted to cruise through the season the way they always do. Now, someone is sleeping in their bed and drinking from their water bowl. Both these dogs are desperate to get the win on Sunday Night, but who can actually get the bone? Not to mention their history against each other in the playoffs- Woof!

Dallas Cowboys @ San Francisco 49ers (-5.5)

It feels like every week I write an article about the Cowboys, and I talk about how they’re not that good, but it’s a decent spot for them, so maybe they can land within the number, and they get smashed. The team stinks straight up, against the spread, in the run game and on defense. But I just can’t quit them. This is my last straw on the Cowboys.

With Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott in Dallas, they’ve come out firing out of the bye every year. And it can be irresponsible to use last year as a script for this year, but when they came out of the bye they committed to throw the ball more. They need to steer back into this mentality and abandon their absolutely despicable rushing attack.

Not to mention how injured the 49ers’ offense is for this game. Deebo Samuel and George Kittle are expected to go, but they’re nursing some injuries. Juan Jennings and Brandon Aiyuk are not available in the passing game. And they’re missing several pieces on their defense.

But this is it. They lose this time, no more Cowboys.

Pick: Dallas +5.5

A Swan Song For the Niner Gang

This may be Jordan Mason’s last game as the leadback for the 49ers. We’re getting close to the reigning offensive player of the year Christian McCaffrey’s return. It could be next week, but I think he’ll definitely be back by Week 10. Jordan Mason has filled in wonderfully for him over the last few weeks, but he’s no All-Pro.

They’re going to get whatever juice out of Mason while they can so that they can give him some rest when McCaffrey comes back. Dallas struggles to stop the run on defense, and I just got done telling you about the injuries in San Francisco’s passing attack. It’s going to be the Jordan Mason show on Sunday Night Football.

Pick: Jordan Mason Over 79.5 Rushing Yards
