Syracuse (3-1) at No. 25 UNLV (4-0), Friday

This is a tale of two quarterbacks. The Orange’s Kyle McCord has passed for 300 yards or more in four games this season after transferring from Ohio State. On the other side, the Rebels have lost Matt Sluka, who alleges that the school did not pay him the $100,000 they had promised in their NIL agreement.

And, um, how did UNLV get to No. 25? They’ve beaten Houston (1-4), Utah Tech (0-5), Kansas (1-4) and Fresno State (3-2). Granted, ‘Cuse’s main victim has been Georgia Tech, but McCord is a seasoned QB from the Big Ten. We’re looking for him to eat some Rebel lunch.

Syracuse wins outright.

No. 10 Michigan (4-1) at Washington (3-2)

The Huskies have lost by three to their toughest two opponents, Rutgers and Washington State, while the Wolverines have already played Texas (loss), USC (win) and Minnesota (win). At some point, QB Alex Orji is going to have to pass more, but the Blue and Gold have gotten away with running the ball on 62% of their plays. We’ll give them one more week to use the ground and pound for another W.

Go with Michigan to cover the spread and on the moneyline.

No. 12 Ole Miss at South Carolina (3-1)

After feasting on Furman, Middle Tennessee, Wake Forest and Georgia Southern, Mississippi took a dump in their SEC opener with a loss at home to Kentucky. Mmm, so they have a No. 12 ranking this week? Uh, OK. Anyway, the Gamecocks have a fierce defensive front that helped beat that same Kentucky team earlier this season. Kyle Kennard and Dylan Stewart will help slow down Ole Miss’ top-ranked offense. Look, we aren’t saying SC wins, but giving them a touchdown-plus is too much to overlook.

Take South Carolina to cover at home.

West Virginia (2-2) at Oklahoma State (3-2)

It would be easy to discount the Cowboys in this one. They’ve lost their first two Big 12 games — 22-19 to Utah and 42-20 at Kansas State. Well, at least those two teams are in the top 25. WVU has lost to Penn State — a totally respectable defeat — but we’ll go with the Cowboys (422.8 yards per game) to get their wagon back on the road this weekend.

Take OSU to win and cover the spread.

SMU (4-1) at No. 22 Louisville (3-1)

The Mustangs lost to a strong BYU team and crushed Florida State and have put up 108 points in the past two games. The Cardinals’ defense has given up a whopping 5.6 yards per play in the past couple of games.

Take the ‘Stangs to at least cover the nearly TD spread.
